Everyday, every second, someone, somewhere is being bullied because their sebaceous glands have gone into overdrive. While there are alot of obvious reasons this may be happening (Puberty, Stress, etc) ......I find that I am contantly telling new clients (typically teenagers) that it may be something they do (or dont do) everyday and night that is hindering the progress of clearing their skin up, even though they may be using a good and sometimes expensive, acne cleansing system.
The first question I typically ask is "
How Often do you change your pillowcases?"
If the answer is....."once every 2 weeks" Well needless to say.....That is not often enough!
Everynight before bed, people (sadly not everyone) wash their faces, then proceed to lay their freshly clean skin on a dirty pillow case. Does this make any sense? No, I didnt think so.
Look at it this way....... While you sleep at night, oil secretes from your skin onto your pillowcase and during the day microscopic bacteria may accumulate, along with things (like bugs, cats, even dogs) that may crawl all over it......Gross!
I guess what I am trying to say is.......
CHANGE YOUR PILLOWCASES! Even if its twice a week.
Sleep in one side one night, then flip it over and sleep on the other side the next night. I cant stress enough how well this helps and I guarantee, you will notice a big difference in just a few weeks.
The next question I ask is.........
"Do you play any sports that require you to wear a helmet?"
If the answer is "Yes".......be prepared to carry a bottle of spray Rubbing Alcohol in your equipment bag or purse.
I learned this trick a few years ago, as I have Twin (almost) 13yr old boys who drive Junior Cascar and are required to wear a helmet as part of their safety gear at the race track.
Most teenagers and even adults seem to overlook this simple way to control and kill bactera that accumulates inside of Hockey, Football, Motocross & Race helmets, after sweating inside them for hours at a time. Basically, just spraying Rubbing Alcohol all over the inside of the helmet AFTER you are done for the day with the equipment, will keep the bacteria from getting back into your skin when you're wearing it the next time.
Remember that Rubbing alcohol is drying, so NEVER spray it before you wear it!
